Peter J. Marks was born in Singen, Germany in 1953.
After an apprenticeship as a machinery fitter from 1968 to 1972, he completed his school education, then began a course of study in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Applied Sciences in Konstanz, where he qualified as an engineer in 1977.
