Bosch Chassis System Team Helps
Keep Automotive Customers Satisfied
In today's car manufacturing industry, a growing concern in the pursuit of improved customer satisfaction is that of noise, vibration and harshness (NVH).

Brake system related noise and vibration is a prominent issue with car-owners who have placed it the highest amongst brake-related complaints in a recent industry vehicle quality study. And when a car manufacturer chooses a brake system supplier for a new vehicle program, they must contend with some key engineering challenges. In the past few years, NVH capabilities have become an important differentiator among brake system suppliers, with Bosch a clear leader in technology, and accumulated experience in terms of North American programs management.

Today, the commitment continues with investment in the Farmington Hills Brake System NVH technical center.
The technical center features:

  • two fully climatic controlled hemi-anechoic chambers - housing both a four-wheel and a two-wheel chassis
dynamometer and three other climatic controlled inertia dynamometers
  • a hemi-anechoic chamber for vehicle testing of actuation and modulation noise/vibration measurement
  • a laser holography lab for corner module NVH
  • an actuation system noise chamber, and
  • state-of-the-art simulation tools.
Behind the scenes is the implementation of the Brake NVH Quality Assurance Procedure (QAP).Using experienced NVH engineers during the vehicle development phase, QAP ties all developmental tools (hardware/software) together seamlessly to mitigate brake system NVH issues.

From analytical modelling, lab testing, to dynamometer confirmation testing, Bosch provides full-system NVH capabilities for all combinations of foundation brake system, actuation, and modulation modules and continues to be the leader in the brake industry in North America.
