"Green" living
In a union of style and sustainability, premium Bosch home appliances have been incorporated into the first show home of the Glidehouse, a new prefabricated “green” housing option that is available to consumers nationwide and in Canada. The show home – located on Vashon Island off Seattle, WA – is open to consumers, architects and designers interested in learning more about the cost-effectiveness of modular housing and energy efficient resources, including Bosch ranges, dishwashers, laundry and other appliances.
“As the industry leader in energy efficient appliances, we at Bosch are proud to partner with the Glidehouse to launch a viable, alternative housing option that encourages consumers to fully embrace the green, environmentally friendly lifestyle,” said Franz J. Bosshard, president and CEO of Bosch. “Bosch appliances deliver beautifully on the ideals of efficient and quiet performance, combined with quality engineering and clean, contemporary European design.”
Integration of Bosch appliances
The centerpiece of the Glidehouse show home kitchen is the Bosch Free-Standing Convection Range, which is made of 100% of recyclable materials. The brand’s Integra dishwasher with concealed controls, over-the-range microwave, and front-loading, stackable Axxis™ laundry system round out the space. Bosch appliances are manufactured in a state-of-the-art factory complex in New Bern, NC that employs environmentally progressive production techniques that result in major reductions in energy and waste per appliance.
“The Glidehouse was designed to be a modern, yet affordable and sustainable housing option,” said Michelle Kaufmann, the Bay Area architect behind the Glidehouse. “Building a Glidehouse results in very little waste as it’s assembled onsite from pre-fabricated modular components. It utilizes a variety of renewable and recyclable materials, such as bamboo flooring, a tankless water heater and low-energy fluorescent lighting.”
