Professional Preferred Alternators and Starters
In addition to a complete range of new alternators and starters, Bosch is now utilizing its century of engineering experience to market “Professional Preferred – 100% Remanufactured Alternators and Starters.”

Install dependability, long service life
Install Dependability, Long Service Life
“Installing quality remanufactured alternators and starters from a reputable manufacturer, such as Bosch Professional Preferred 100% Remanufactured Alternators and Starters, assures the motorist of dependable performance and a long service life from these absolutely essential components. It assures the distributor and installer that comebacks will be virtually non-existent," notes Ken Brom, Director of Starting and Charging Products for Bosch.

"And Bosch’s two-year warranty, and two-year 24/7 roadside assistance program that comes with every Bosch Professional Preferred 100% Remanufactured Alternator or Starter assures the motorist and those who service his vehicles of help and a tow if a Bosch alternator or starter fails.”

In some cases there is no way to predict the remaining service life of a part, even if it passes performance tests. While these parts are reused in most low cost units, in Bosch Professional Preferred remanufactured units, these parts are 100% replaced.

Bosch is warning installers and distributors of potentially expensive service costs from installing low cost, partially remanufactured alternators and starters. These “bargain” units, while lower in cost, are often only repaired to the point of failure, then cleaned, painted, and boxed for sale. “A comparable working part from a salvage yard could easily have more remaining service life than some so-called remanufactured parts,” said Brom.

“Replacing an alternator in a typical popular domestic or import front-wheel-drive vehicle today may require two to three hours of labor, and often involves the removal and reinstallation of components including but not limited to the air conditioner, intake manifold, and other sensitive components. You want to do it right the first time."

Bosch “Professional Preferred” alternators and starters include many new and remachined components, thorough testing of all electronic and other components, and 100% load testing of all assembled units.
