Environmental protection has long been an integral part of Bosch’s business strategy and plays a significant role in stimulating and guiding product innovations. The company introduced its first binding guideline on environmental protection more than thirty years ago and has continued its environmental awareness efforts in all areas of its business – from products such as automotive technology and household appliances to its manufacturing facilities.
To assist in communicating the company’s strong commitment to energy efficiency and a healthy environment, Bosch has created a new environmental Web page in the “About Bosch in the USA” portion of the its U.S. Web site (see link at right) and will release an environmental “Web special” on its U.S. centennial Web site (see link at right). These materials will highlight Bosch’s environmental protection efforts, policies and products.
As a leading manufacturer of environmentally friendly technologies and manufacturing processes, Bosch strives to ensure that it remains on the leading edge of “green” products. The following technologies represent a few of the environmentally responsible activities Bosch is pursuing.
Energy-efficient Bosch appliances, such as tankless water heaters, can lead to a reduction of 30-50 percent in monthly utility bills and significant reductions in greenhouse gas emissions. Bosch appliances also feature “green” manufacturing techniques and materials that use environmentally friendly, progressive production techniques and, in some instances, 100 percent recyclable materials.
Bosch also drives environmental leadership in the automotive industry. Every site in Bosch’s Automotive Technology Business sector operates under accreditation from the international environmental management standard ISO 14001. And with innovative powertrain technologies such as clean diesel and hybrids, Bosch is contributing to finding solutions to our energy concerns.
Bosch is committed to providing straightforward and informative environmental data and indicators. Its values, products and manufacturing processes have been designed to reduce emissions and consumption while contributing to a cleaner environment. Environmental awareness will continue to drive Bosch innovation as it moves into its second century of doing business in the United States.
