Wireless Technologies Intern
The wireless section at Bosch Research and Technology Center - North America focuses on technologies for automotive, building automation, consumer goods and industrial applications. Wireless senor networks is one of our primary focus areas, however topics like localization, mesh networks for multimedia distribution and wireless charging are also topics of interest. our work is done in close collaboration with partners at leading US universities, industry partners, and other worldwide Bosch research, development, and marketing units.

Developing and transferring key technologies to our internal partners and contributing to the overall academic world in our field are our key objective. Hence we are looking for highly qualifies candidates for assisting us in achieving our goals.

Summary:

The vision that drives senor network research is the proliferation of low-cost wireless devices that interact with the physical world to enhance the observability and controllability of the environment. However communication among wireless sensor nodes that employ cheap low- power transceivers is often very sensitive to the variations of the wireless channel. Furthermore wireless senor nodes often have to share 2.4GHz band with other wireless networks, such as IEEE802.11b/g/n. hence analyzing co-existence problems between different wireless technologies is critical.

Job Description:

  • Identify the problems in heterogeneous networks, especially between IEEE802.11 and IEEE802.15.4 systems
  • Conduct simulations with OPNET to investigate and verify identified co-existence problems
  • Develop and analyze algorithms to combat co-existence problems

Qualifications:

  • Master's/PhD level student with experience in wireless communication and networks
  • Ability to analyze and develop wireless communication algorithms in PHY and MAC layers
  • Familiarity with existing wireless technologies and good knowledge on their PHY/MAC layers
  • Strong computer and simulation skills with proven experience in OPNET, Matlab, C/C++
