Post Doc: Large Eddy Simulation with Emphasis on Noise Prediction and Cavitating Flows

Degree Level: Ph.D.

Major (s): Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautics and Astronautics, Chemical Engineering

Duties/Tasks: Modeling of aeroacoustics in a radiator up stream of an automotive cooling fan.  LES of automotive cooling fans with analysis of noise sources.  Interfacing with university and industrial partners.  In addition to LES of cooling fans, the Post Doc will be responsible for technical support of a project on compressible LES for cavitating flows with industrial applications.  External collaborations will involve leading computational and modeling researchers at Stanford University, and experimentalist at Bosch and academia in the US.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • LES, numerical methods, aeroacoustics, multiphase flows, physical modeling and parallel computing
  • Post Doc experience in academia is also a plus
  • Proven research track record required
  • Must display a strong degree of independence with excellent communication and team skills to work effectively in an interdisciplinary and international project team
