The Bosch Research and Technology Center is looking for highly motivated interns with a strong desire to promote robotics research. The candidate will join a team of experienced researchers driving robotics technology development and research at Bosch Research in the Palo Alto office with the goal of creating viable solutions for growing international market needs.  The intern will develop a web-centered infrastructure for remote operation and remote experimentation using the PR2 robot. The goal of this research is making a PR2 and its rich middleware system ROS publically available to a broad community through web services. The candidate will work towards this goal by joining a team of Bosch researchers who design and develop algorithms and applications for autonomous systems at the Bosch Research and Technology Center in Palo Alto, CA.

About Robotics at the Bosch Research and Technology Center

The robotics team at RTC was recently awarded a PR2 research robot as part of the Willow Garage PR2 Beta Program. We are the only corporate research organization that received a PR2. As part of our engagement in the PR2 Beta Program, we develop and publish open source software and collaborate with Willow Garage and the ROS community. In addition to external projects such as the PR2, we also work with our internal partners to develop products for current and future Bosch business.

Skills / Job Requirements

     Currently pursuing a BS or MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related fields

     Knowledge and experience in robotics and mobile manipulation.

     Knowledge in advanced web technologies (web services, jQuery, websockets,etc.)

     HTML and Javascript development experience

     Experience with ROS is preferred

     C++, and/or python programming, knowledge of Linux a plus

     Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as within a highly motivated team environment.
